Habits that keep you out of trouble

  • Never type your seed phrase into any website. Ever.
  • Use a hardware wallet for significant amounts.
  • Prefer app-based TOTP 2FA over SMS; consider a security key (FIDO2).
  • Verify recipient addresses character-by-character; use an address book.
  • Be suspicious of urgency, "guaranteed returns," and unsolicited DMs.
  • Keep software/firmware updated; download wallets only from official sources.
  • Use a separate, dedicated email for crypto accounts.
If you’re being pressured, stop

Urgency is the single most common manipulation tactic. Legitimate services don’t need you to act in the next 5 minutes. Pause, verify independently, and ask someone you trust.
